You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
Enter any federal, state or local estimated tax payments you’ve made under Estimates, in the Estimates and Other Taxes Paid section. You'll find this section in Deductions & Credits under either the Federal Taxes tab or the Personal tab, depending on the product. For a shortcut, type “estimates paid” in the search box and use the “Jump to” link.
Your state and local tax payments are automatically transferred to your state return. We’ll also use them to determine whether you’d benefit from itemized deductions, instead of a standard deduction.
Where is this option in the Turbo Tax IRS Free File Program?
The directions are the same.
If you have state tax estimates or any other payments enter them here: (See the attached screenshot below. Click to enlarge.)
• Click on Federal Taxes
• Click on Deductions and Credits
• Click on I'll choose what I work on (if shown)
• Scroll down to Estimates and Other Taxes Paid
• On Estimates, click on the start or update button

Income Taxes Paid
Payments for 2018 or a prior year state or local income taxes paid in 2019
Hello, I have a business started in Q4 2018. I had to pay estimated federal taxes for Q4 2018 before Jan 15, 2019. Which I did, the check of $2,612 was sent to IRS and cashed on Jan 10, 2019. This amount was *not* reported on the 2018 taxes.
Now I am filing my 2019 taxes, and since the check was cashed during the 2019 year, I am trying to figure out where to enter the $2,612 amount which represents estimated federal taxes for 18Q4? Turbo Tax Premier only gives me entries for 19Q1-Q4 oaid estimated taxes...any idea how to address this issue?
Thank You
Since the payment was made for the 4th quarter of 2018, it has to be reported on your 2018 return. It cannot be reported on your 2019 return.
If you have already filed your 2018 return, you can amend it and include the payment. Please see the instructions contained in this TurboTax Help article to amend your return: How to amend (change or correct) a return you already filed

Can not enter the estimated tax payments made in either the Estimated Quarterly Payments or the Add other Payments. What is wrong?

I have already typed PA estimated taxes. Why is is now asking for estimated paid in 2019 for 2020?
It depends.
Can you provide a bit more information as to where you are entering this information?
Typically this information is entered as any state or local income taxes paid in 2020 could potentially be a tax deduction if you are able to itemize you deductions.
Be aware your overall deduction for taxes on your federal tax return is limited to $10,000. Any amounts over this are not deductible.
Please clarify where estimated tax payments are entered in the Turbotax Home and Business product.
In the TurboTax Home and Business product, Estimates are entered in the Deductions and Credits section under Estimates and Other Taxes Paid. To get there, you can also follow these steps:
