eFile Rejection

First time I tried to submit my tax return via eFile but I got rejection notice. I checked my AGI which is correct. My wife doesn't work but we filed jointly so I used her AIG as mine. Any idea why my tax return is rejected? How many times I can submit via eFile?

eFile Rejection

If it was rejected for AGI—-be aware that many 2019 returns took so long for the IRS to process that your 2019 AGI might not be in the IRS system.   Try using zero instead.

If filing with zero is rejected then file again but select the option that you did not file last year.  The IRS does not see that question and it will allow you to e-file with no AGI question.

Or—-if you filed as a “non-filer” just to get the stimulus check on a 2019 return, try using $1 as the AGI.

If that does not work and you still cannot e-file, then print, sign, and mail your tax return.

Thank for your reply. Do I need to use AGI zero amount for my wife and for me, both AGI $0?

eFile Rejection

When you file a joint return the AGI is the same for both spouses.

eFile Rejection

I tried multiple times to e-file but the return was rejected - stated reason was an AGI mismatch. I even went so far as to get a tax return transcript from the IRS and confirmed the AGI I was putting into TurboTax was correct. Still no joy.

Finally, following the advice from this thread, I put  0 into the AGI field, and presto, e-file accepted. Just an FYI.

Thnx.
