Awesome glad it worked. Hopefully TT will have things fixed by next year!

Hi SS77771,  thx for your sol’n, but didn’t work for me. I have No marketplace purchase checked (didn’t use mrtplace) ; hence no 8962 and no 1065A or K1….I only have one Sch C with one correct 7602 associated with it which is generated as I enter my health insurance premiums while entering my Sch C stuff as requested. Any other suggestions? I wonder if I can overwrite all the 7602 entries manually and see if this works. Thanks.

Are you working in Forms mode? If not, switch over and try it.

I just used the solution presented elsewhere which involved deleting unneeded 7206 forms.  IMPORTANT: You cannot see the extra 7206 forms just by looking at the forms list; mine only listed one.  However, if you then click on "Open Form" and search on 7206, you will see everything that is in play.  You can then delete the unneeded copies.  My federal return has now been accepted and I am very relieved.

I've now been rejected 3 times with a Schedule C-related form 7206.  I've paid for 2 State e-filings in addition to the Federal desktop and have no intention or desire to file by mail.  I did find unnecessary Forms 7206 attached to K-1 forms (not Schedule C) and have deleted them but am afraid to e-file again and possibly be blocked for the year due to 4 rejects as some on this forum have reported that merely deleting the K-1 7206 forms doesn't solve the problem for Schedule C.

Turbotax, when will this be resolved?

Somehow my return was accepted after fooling around with the 7602. After the search, 4 7602's popped up, one for an unknown C business. I went back to step by step, and deleted the health care premium, it made no difference on what I owe, so I deleted the entry. I think that is why the filing went through.

Maybe this helps

Cheers

Update:  I tried to e-file again after I deleted the 3 extraneous Forms 7602 that TT created, based on the advice given in this thread.  I'm very happy to say that it worked; my Federal return has now been accepted.

I'm very grateful to this forum for explaining how to root out and solve the problem.  Equally, my confidence in Turbotax as a product and Intuit as a company is profoundly shaken.  After literally months of this issue having been known, and even in the face of community members explaining exactly what the problem is, how can they still not have fixed it?  Even worse, even though the workaround/resolution is now known to this community, how can TT literally -- as of right now -- still be erroneously advising its customers that when they receive the error message, they can't file electronically and need to mail it in?  (I should also mention that I called tech support today before re-filing and the technician was still reading from the same script telling me that I can't e-file and need to mail it.)

Intuit should really correct their guidance immediately, fix the software so it stops generating extra, superfluous Forms 7602 and take steps to assure customers that the product can be relied upon going forward.

Thank you so much for this workaround, @Deborahwrites1. I finally got this to work once I read your update that after going to Forms, you then need to click the Open Form button/icon and do a search for 7206. When I first tried to delete any additional form 7206s I was just scanning down the list of forms in my return and only seeing the one related to my Schedule C for the deduction of non-Healthcare Exchange premiums. When I searched for 7206 I got results for my Schedule C and for some reason each of the Schedule K-1s in my return. I opened all of the form 7206s for each of the 5 K-1s and deleted them all.

NOTE: Even after deleting and saving the return (there was no change in TT's calculated taxes) they still do show up in a search for 7206, but if you click on them TT prompts you to add a form. I took this to be a bug of some kind and took it on faith that even though they appeared in search results, they really had been deleted. I refiled the Federal return and it was accepted finally (3rd attempt) and once I got the confirmation that the return had been accepted I refiled my State return.

Again, THANK YOU SO MUCH for figuring out the workaround! I am so glad that I didn't have to file a paper return.

I believe your statement is not true, at least it was not so in my case. I just successfully filed my return with Schedule C and related Form 7206 for non-Healthcare Exchange premiums. The failures I had in my initial e-filings were related to "ghost" form 7206s related to K-1s

As I understand things, if you are self-employed and have healthcare premiums for a plan that you purchased on any of the State ACA ("Obamacare") Healthcare Exchanges, you need to select "I'm self employed and bought a Marketplace plan" and report those premiums on form 1095-A. )You will get the same deduction that way as you would reporting it on a Schedule C). You will not report Healthcare Exchange ("Marketplace") premiums on your Schedule C.

In my case I also have healthcare premiums that are deductible expenses and are for healthcare that is NOT purchased through my State's Healthcare Exchange (my spouse's premiums for healthcare purchased directly from an insurer). These I reported on my Schedule C with an associated form 7206. My filing was initially rejected until I followed Deborah's workaround and deleted the "ghost" Form 7206s that the TT bug was attaching to my K-1 forms.

So in summary, in my opinion at least (and I don't claim to be anyone's tax advisor), anyone who is self-employed and has deductible healthcare premiums paid to an ACA Exchange needs to report them on form 1095-A, not on Schedule C. (You should have received a 1095-A from your insurer). And anyone with deductible healthcare premiums paid for insurance that is not through an ACA Exchange needs to report those on Schedule C, which will also require a Form 7206. And anyone in a situation like mine where they have both, needs to split those premiums and report them on both their Schedule C with an attached Form 7206, AND a form 1095-A. The net result for your taxes owed or refund due will be the same (give or take some rounding of possibly a dollar or two.

This is how I understand things at least, and hopefully I'm right as this is how I filed my return.

Yes there are two flavors of this problem. One is a Form 7206 related to Sch the other the same form related to Sch K-1. In both cases if you  have two Form7206's you will not be able to file. If you are claiming a healthcare premium deduction under Sch K-1 make sure you don't have one elsewhere and it will work. See Debrorahwrites for details. If you are claiming it under Sch C then it will not work if you also file a Form 1095-A unless you delete Form 7206 as described in my prior post. If you buy health insurance other than on the Marketplace then your inputs in the Business Deduction section does not appear to have a problem preventing filing unless you have multiple Form 7206.

So I'm basically screwed then...

I have both a Schedule C business and K-1 business.  I am showing four 7206 forms. Not only that, my owed taxes increases by $700 when I uncheck "I'm self-employed and bought a Marketplace plan."

So essentially I have no viable workaround besides mailing in my tax forms this year?

If I have to mail a 45-page return to the IRS this year with a handwritten check and spend $15 on postage, I'll never use TurboTax again if I can help it. They literally have about 4 business days to fix the problem or they'll lose me as a 20-year personal AND business tax customer (I buy both Home & Business and Corporate products) forever.

My trust is in TT is hanging off the edge of a cliff right now. UNACCEPTABLE with it being April 8th. Early March I could understand... but this close to the filing tax deadline is ridiculous. I have no desire to file an extension in the hope that they fix the problem.

I feel for you - my faith in TT is also very, very shaken.  Their canned responses really torqued me ... so called 'TT employee experts' are to provide advice, not just copy and paste a canned response.   In my situation, 4 Form 7206's showed up when we only needed to file one... I had 3 under different Sch C's and 1 under a K1.   Only 1 under the Sch C needed filed - the rest were present with empty data.   You did verify none of your Form 7206's are empty data, correct?  You can't just look at the listing of your forms... you must go to switch to forms, then do a search on 7206 to see the ones that are empty data...looking at just your forms the ones that are blank will not show up (and even when you print the copy ready to send, only the ones with data are printed).  This really seems to be an 'easy' fix for a good programmer...get rid of the ghost Form 7206's that are showing up under any Sch C or K1 business.   But if your situation isn't that I am so sorry.   It is very, very frustrating.  Good luck.

After 3 rejections I followed the instructions to delete the empty 7206 on the unnecessary Farm schedule and the unnecessary 7206 on the Schedule K-1 keeping just the 7206 attached to Schedule C. Worked. Return accepted. Thank you to everyone for figuring this out and sharing the solution. This should have been an easy fix for Intuit/Turbotax.. ..

FINALLY got "Federal Return Accepted" e-mail.

After 5 rejected e-file attempts and with no help from TT, but THANKS to the suggestions from this discussion community, I found and deleted 2 ghost Forms 7206 under Schedule F. These forms did not show up in the list of Forms in My Return. I had to click on the Open Form icon and search for 7206 to find that, in addition to the real Form 7206 which I need to file under a Schedule C, there were 2 blank Forms 7206 under 2 separate Schedule F's (but none under Sch K-1's). Once I deleted these blank forms and retransmitted the return for the 6th time, it was accepted.
