Donations without Income

Hello, 

Can you advise what documents are required for the following:

- I did not earn income in the year 2022

- I made charitable donations close to $10,000.00

- I have the receipts to confirm the donations were made

My questions are:

(1) Do I need to file a tax return, due to having no income for this past year?

(2) If I file the return and include the donations, do I need to include documentation/proof of where the donation was made from, (given the fact that I did not receive income this past year), to file the return without the probability of an audit?

Since you had no taxable income, you do not need to file a tax return.  This would make the issue of reporting the charitable contributions moot.
