This FAQ says if you used the Desktop program Turbo Tax can't get a copy even if you efile
Thanks for looking into it.
I used desktop program. The question is whether or not Intuit keeps what you transmit when you e-file on their servers.
Because when you e-file using TurboTax, the information flows through Intuit to IRS, your desktop is irrelevant here.
Update: just saw your other reply referencing Intuit's post: "E-filing doesn't keep a copy of your return on our servers."
This answers my question, thanks for digging this up.
(assuming it's true, no idea why they have to bury this so deep since it's kind of important)
Today, 1-9-2024, I presented this question about the 2023 Deluxe desktop version to a TT customer service rep and she said they do keep a copy online as a "convenience" to us. This concerns me, can anyone confirm if she was right or wrong? I also found out about the 5 online Fed filings being attached to one Intuit account. Disappointed in that.

The rep you spoke with either misunderstood your question or is misinformed.
There is no way that TurboTax can get a copy of your tax return that was completed using the TurboTax desktop editions.
The only copy of your tax data file and any PDF's will be on the computer where the return was created.
That lady is totally wrong. Turbotax does not get or have copies of returns prepared using desktop software even if e-filed. The only copy is on your computer.
And I'll post this link again.
It says...... E-filing doesn't keep a copy of your return on our servers.
What is your concern about 5 federal filing? Only the program you bought is in your account not the tax returns or filings. You can install TurboTax on 5 Computer you own. You can do unlimited returns and efile 5.
See this FAQ for why do I need to sign in to an Intuit Account this year?

Thanks for the feedback. She must be confusing the online and desktop versions. She also told me that you get 3 free state efiles with the Deluxe, which is wrong. You get one free state download.
If you used a desktop version, you would have give your return a file name and saved it on your computer windows or mac filing system. When you install your next desjtop version or even if you decide use their online version of TT you can import it into this years TT. Course if you don't have the computer anymore and didn't keep a paper copy say la ve! But that's usually only important if you have business, rental income etc with information you need to bring forward like depreciation.
