Dependent Child received a 1099NEC

So my 14 yr old received a 1099 NEC for $1K.  No taxes were taken out.  She did not receive a w2.  What do I do.  If I file for her, claim Single?  Seems odd since she's a dependent.  Or add the $1K to our tax return?

Thanks,

B

No, don't add your child's income to your own return.

Because your child received income reported on Form 1099-NEC, she'll need to file her own tax return if her net self-employment income -- gross minus expenses -- is at least $400.  Income reported on 1099-NEC is generally considered self-employment income.

Please see the TurboTax Help article Do I need to file my own taxes if I'm a dependent? for more information.

Your daughter would file using the Single filing status, assuming she's not married.
