Deluxe (Online) 2023 (Texas ). In the TurboTax "REVIEW" it says the W2 Federal/state sect. 457 acts are different. My W2 is blank for TX and should be <>. Ok last yr

I was forced to enter an amount on W2 for Texas income this year and although the entry was accepted and now equals the federal number, it still says it is <> Texas!   So, if TurboTax won't accept blank Texas income and won't recognize the Texas Income I input how do I file?

Return to the W2 entry and leave the entire state section blank, no wage, no state, no numbers / information of any sort.

Thank you for your response.

I removed the state and $ info as you suggested as shown in the print-screen capture below.

However, after removing the data I can't "Continue" past this page without a $ value.  Any attempt to get past this page without filling in state and $ values always brings me back to this page requiring me to answer the question " Yes, I took this money out of my nonqualified or Section 457 plan."  I must answer this question, but once I have I am required to enter the state and $ values.

Any other suggestions?

Yes, you will need to record the money taken out of the plan ($226.32) because Section 457 plans are nonqualified, unfunded deferred compensation plans established by state and local government and tax-exempt employers. You are required to enter this information.

The system is no longer "flagging" my W2 input as unequal between

  1. federal Wages in box 1,
  2. Box 11 Nonqualified Plans, and
  3. Box 11 (Cont) ... State Allocation
