Hello I have the TurboTax Home and Business for 2023 tax year. I see the option to create 1099s/w2s...
I have used this for my 3 1099 necs and the 1096 but is this an official form that i can submit to the irs? or is this just for my records??? or Pulling the info into TurboTax???
do i still need to go purchase a 1099 NEC packet with the Red 1096 form?
Thank you!!!

If you have used TurboTax Home & Business to prepare forms 1099-NEC and have chosen to e-file them, then the forms have been e-filed with the IRS.
You don't need to buy the red forms and file them by mail.
I cant efile bc i dont have an EIN - sole prop only with SSN to file my 1099s i need to print and mail.
Which method did you use to prepare them? You can do them 2 different ways from the Windows Desktop Home & Business program. Either Online using Quick Employer Forms (QEF) -or- directly on your computer with the built in W2/1099 Reporter. If you use the Reporter on your computer you have to mail them to the IRS and not efile.
It was the Quick Employer Forms that I used. the Docs that produces.. can I print and mail those to the IRS??? are they official forms?
No do not mail to the IRS the Quick Employer Forms efiles them to the IRS. Did you go though the file tab and submit them?
After e-filing your W-2 or 1099 form, please monitor your form status in the Forms tab of the corresponding business. The form status will change from "E-File Processing" to either "E-File Accepted" or "E-File Rejected", once the Government Agency processes the form. The status change may take up to 2 to 4 weeks. You will also receive a notification by e-mail when the status changes. For W-2 and 1099-NEC, e-file is due by January 31, 2024 . For 1099-MISC, 1099-INT and 1099-DIV, efile is due by March 31, 2024. Thank you that is what i needed. I will Not Efile the Quick Forms: I will go purchase a 1099 nec packet.
Again I cannot Efile. I do not have an EIN: Per the IRS You must provide the legal business name, employer identification number (EIN), and TCC to all users who e-file information returns or need to access the FIRE system to support your business.
