Thank you @CarissaM for addressing this.
Do you have a rough ETA from the team so we can all plan accordingly to know when we can finish our taxes?
Thanks.
@tylertechnology There is no ETA on this at the moment. We will notify everyone when it has been updated.
Same problem I'm having, keeps saying my header are wrong from coinbase. This is absolutely disgusting, piece of **bleep** scammers.
What's the site you used?
Goberment: "You have to pay taxes."
Me: "Are you going to tell me what I have to pay?"
Goberment: "No, you have to figure it out for yourself."
Me: "What if I get it wrong?"
Goberment: "You go to prison!"
Turbotax: "We will help you figure it out and charge you $150 for it."
Me: "Your software doesn't work."
Turbotax: "Did you try to turn it off again and on again?"
@screwtrbotx nailed it 🤣
Having the same issue.
The so called "specialists" are just specialists at directing people to irrelevant Q&A pages. I doubt they know anything about taxes. I am extremely disappointed at TurboTax this year, especially at paying extra for upgraded packages.
If there are other apps to use I would probably use it next year. Smh at TurboTax
Might as well go back to hiring an accountant to do my taxes
Having the same two issues:
Headers in CSV from coinbase:
Timestamp, Transaction Type, Asset, Quantity Transacted, USD Spot Price at Transaction, USD Subtotal, USD Total (inclusive of fees), USD Fees, Notes
Headers TurboTax is looking for:
Currency Name, Purchase Date, Cost Basis, Date sold, Proceeds
Is there a way I could manually calculate the necessary fields using the provided columns from coinbase?
Please contact Coinbase directly for further assistance.
@Anonymous
Thanks for pointing out the actual header names involved.
Find someone adept with EXCEL to do that rearrangement if you are not.
Not that simple, you need to parse data for each one to avoid errors..
At tax time, you have the option to summarize your transactions by Sales Category.
IRS requires details to be listed on a Form 8949,
or on your other forms (e.g. consolidated 1099-B) which have the same information and in the same manner as Form 8949.
Either way, if you choose to summarize, you have to mail the transaction details to the IRS within three business days of IRS accepting your e-Filed tax return.(unless you have attached a PDF of the transactions details to your e-Filed return. TurboTax does not offer this feature).
Exception: if you summarize Category A or Category D, Form 8949 is not needed for transactions without adjustments. No mailing is necessary.
If you don't have a 1099-B from coin base your sales category is C or F.
There is no exception for these categories.

Based on a few csv files that I've seen posted before, the csv file is not in the form and manner of 8949.

It can be done with EXCEL if you are an expert EXCEL programmer.
Otherwise get out the pad, pencil and calculator.
It has been 3 weeks. Please fix this.
Don't just point us to coinbase and tell them to fix their headers. Look at the headers that coinbase is creating and make your software work with both styles. I think a reasonable software department with a DevSecOps chain could nail this in a day or less. Shouldn't you have CT/CD constantly pulling the recent coinbase csv version and running them against your software especially if you are teamed together and touting your compatibility?
And how about now? We're in week 3 now. No ETA?
