charge for tax sending the tax return

i was charged $24.99 for a state return that i was told in the beginning it was free.  Was that only to make out but charged for the sending????

Using the TurboTax desktop CD/Download Deluxe edition or higher there is one free state program download included in the purchase price.  There is not one free state tax return e-file included.  The e-file charge for a state tax return is currently $24.99.  This charge can be avoided by printing and mailing the state tax return.

If you are using the CD/download version the  it comes with one free state *software*.  e-filing state is, and always has been, an additional charge (Was $19.95 but prices went up in March).   You can print and mail for the price of postage.
