if you mail it use a method where you either get proof of delivery or can track it. the IRS is behind in processing paper returns and the USPS has issues in some locales with delivery. you get no acknowledgement when the IRS receives it. it will just sit in a trailer until the IRS can get to it. any refund could take 4 to 5 months.
