Re: Amendment for dependent

I forgot to check my son will be claimed as a dependent on his return which i already filed. I'm trying to send mine and it was rejected stating he has already filed. How do i file my taxes now? Do I file an amendment to his?

Yes his must be amended HOWEVER your return MUST be mailed in this year do to this error... mail it in now... do not wait for his amended return to be processed. In the future do NOT file a dependent's return prior to the parent's return for just this very reason.
