Ally bank only seeing 1 of my several 1099-INT forms available

No offense but did you read this thread?

We aren't having trouble locating our 1099-INT. We aren't having trouble importing them.  We aren't having trouble entering the data manually once we realize it isn't being imported completely.

The problem is it just isn't being imported properly and the 2 companies involved aren't fixing it.

Anyone else notice the most informative posts in this thread are the regular people who have dealt with this problem. And the posts that are least helpful are the ones posted by Expert Employee Tax Expert.

This must be a TurboTax issue, same with Wells Fargo, directly from the TT program.  Only imported single statement from Savings account, and none of CD's.  I double checked, signing in through both mine and my wife's credentials.

same happened for me with Wells Fargo. Not a bank problem; a TT problem.

If you are still having issues with adding your 1099-interest, you can manual enter the additional forms by following these steps:

  1. Sign in to TurboTax Online
  2. Select Wages and Income
  3. Select revisit next to interest on 1099-INT
  4. Click Yes for did you have investment income
  5. Click Enter a Different way when asked to import
  6. Click 1099-INT
  7. Click Type it myself

It is 2025. The Ally Bank import issue has been recurring for years. Ally blames Intuit. Intuit blames Ally. It is atrocious that the two companies cannot talk to each other and fix the problem after years of a problem.

There are suggestions to import the PDF file. They work but this is like buying a car and getting told that it only goes to 40 MPH. If you want to go over 60, you will need to find a long hill.

Electronic importing is part of TurboTax. This is not a surprise bug. It is a long known problem. Get it fixed.

We at Intuit TurboTax want our users to be completely delighted with their experience using our products and services, and successful in their financial lives and businesses.

Once you file your return, as long as the settings to receive communication from Intuit don’t block it, you will see a pop-up message or receive an email with a survey asking you about your experience. We encourage you to leave your notes and comments there. “Voice of the Customer” notes and comments are read and acted upon.

If you are using TurboTax Desktop, you can also leave feedback at the Final Steps tab:

Kehsa  - What is the purpose of this community if you want consumers to complain of problems only within the feedback section of TurboTax client? How is someone at Intuit going to understand the frustrations of other customers with the same problem?

Sharing your feedback directly via the surveys is just another way to make sure your comments about the functionality of the product make it to the right people. This community is monitored, however the surveys go directly to the teams that can implement changes if enough people are requesting improvements.

Please don't take my message as one to say that you shouldn't use this community to share your experiences. We encourage you continue to use this community in the same ways that you have been using it in addition to providing direct feedback!

Unbelievable. The intuit employees responding here are not understanding the issue at all!

Turbox says it is importing forms from Ally. Then says it has successfully imported the information. But it has only imported part of the information. Further, a user has no way of knowing it imported only a part of the information (only the first "account" since ally does a new account for each CD). You will realize this only if in some obsessive-compulsive neurosis you decided to manually tally the manual pdf (AND went beyond first few pages) to realize you had a lot more interest income than turbotax imported).

Can someone higher up in the chain at intuit read the full thread? I am not a lawyer, but this may be class-action suite territory. (Does that wake you up?)

@lvkale

You mentioned "higher up the chain",  so I'll tell you lower down how you can do that.

I'm a fellow user.  I've seen users mention that problem with Ally 1099-INT importing for the last few years.  For some reason the importing tool (at least for some Ally users) doesn't see the other items after the first account or page. For some reason it thinks it is finished after the first account or page. Maybe it's interrupted by the page of Ally instructions that are on the page 2.  But that's only a guess.    I'm not even sure it happens to every user who has Ally, or if it's platform-related (MAC, Windows) or not.   You'd think there would be more threads on it if it was happening to all Ally TurboTax customers, but as you mentioned, some folks might not realize all their data is not showing up, while others may just be entering it manually instead of importing.

I realize your posting is trying to ensure TurboTax development's importing team is aware of it.   If you want to communicate with a liaison in the office of the president of TurboTax, they are good about getting things to the right team, and they say they usually get back in touch with a user within 1 business day.

The contact form and a box for explanation of your issue is at this link.

Ally bank only seeing 1 of my several 1099-INT forms available

Hi,

I am OP of this thread.

This year (early 2025 for 2024 year taxes) my forms did import correctly from Ally... I would say they could have been more efficiently reported but that is not the point of this thread.

I am sorry to hear some people are still having this issue.

Once again, the people here reading all this are the observant ones. How many people trying to save money w/ Ally and TT aren't as monetarily or internet forum savvy?

I have outgrown Ally and will be moving on... Never had a bad experience but it isn't the bank I need anymore. As for TT... it is what I have known for my entire adult life but I am finding it more and more annoying. I am not a fan of Software as a Service.

For everyone in this thread, TurboTax and importing your info into any tax software is great to crunch the numbers but you still have to be knowledgeable.

I think I made some mistake.. This year it has worked for me also. Apologies.
