Uninstalled all antivirus and malware software. Even tried in safe mode, no luck. Had already seen this article and tried all. Very frustrating.
How much free space on your C: drive?
If not much, you have to delete some files.
Start by emptying the Recycle Bin.

If by reboot you mean power off then on, yes many times. All updating has been done. I don't want to do a reset or reinstall unless that is my final option. Has to be something simple that is preventing TurboTax from installing.
Not sure what you are doing, but hitting/holding your power-off/on button isn't really a reboot....and a forced shutdown can cause problems if done that way.
I meant, go to the lower left corner of the screen, hit the Windows icon, select "Power", then select "Restart" from the pop-up menu.

HA! They were no help either, that was my first and second stop...
open the properties of your downloaded file and set compatibility to "Windows 8".
Tried, didn't work.
