I filed 2021 tax via TT and my line 30 is blank when viewing my documents. I vaguely remember when the third stimulus was announced for $1400 but reading the income limit was $75k or something. I made $82k so figured I was ineligible. I did however, claim head of household as I've always have and I have 5 dependents (I'm a single father raising 5 kids). I was not aware there was a different limit for head of household versus individual filing. If I'm entitled to this rebate and if this field was supposed to be populated, why wasn't it automatically populated by TT? I checked my 2021 transcripts but don't know where to look to see where (if anywhere) it indicates I will be receiving. When I log into my IRS account and view Economic Impact Payment Info, it says Economic Impact Payment 3: $8,400.00. Not quite sure what this means and I ended up paying taxes for 2021. I have not received any letter from the IRS either via mail or e-delivery on the website. Is there a way to definitively verify if I will be receiving this credit? It would be a lifesaver for my family and I.

You were supposed to answer the questions in Federal Review to get the recovery rebate credit on line 30 your 2021 return. Many people received that stimulus money automatically when the IRS mailed out checks or made direct deposits for the 2021 stimulus. TurboTax had no way to know if you received the stimulus check, so TT would not automatically populate that line on your tax return.
So....first....check your online account with the IRS to see what the IRS shows for you---maybe you received it and did not know what it was for. Lots of people got really confused by the stimulus checks and advance child tax credit payments that went out for 2021.

The IRS has identified some people who are eligible for the credit and the IRS is mailing out checks to them. TurboTax has no way to know who those people are. If you are not one of those folks, but believe you should have gotten the credit for 2021, file an amended return for 2021 and use the recovery rebate credit in Federal Review to get it. Do this before April 15, or it will be too late!

Do not expect quick results from amending. It can take four months or more for the IRS to process an amended return.

Oh---I just re-read your post. You say that you already looked at your IRS online account and saw $8400 for payment 3. You and five dependents would be 6 X $1400 = $8400. You already got the 3rd stimulus for your self and all five dependents.
Hi, but I don't think I received it and actually ended up paying taxes for 2021. Could the $8400 credit possibly offset what I owed by that amount? For example, I paid $400 in taxes for 2021 could it mean I actually owed $8800 but the $8400 offset by that amount? That would be strange as I usually never pay and always receive a refund. The only reason I believe I had to pay was because I took out an early distribution from my work 401K. Also, my line 30 was blank if that has any bearing. Would the transcripts show anything? Thanks again for responding and helping. 🙂
Again----if the IRS sent you that $8400 before you prepared your tax return----and that happened for many millions of people----then you would not have entered anything on your tax return about it, since you cannot get the EIP twice. The IRS sent out those 2021 stimulus payments in early 2021. Then in July of 2021 they started sending out monthly advance child tax credit payments. So everyone got very confused. The recovery rebate credit was only if you did not receive the money already.
Check your bank records for 2021----look for a deposit of $8400.
If you need to trace a payment that the IRS says has been issued to you, mail or fax a completed IRS Form 3911, Taxpayer Statement Regarding Refund.
You were absolutely correct. I checked my bank statements and sure enough, I already received these funds back in March 2021. Can't believe I didn't remember tbh. 🙂 Thank you!
