I agree, very frustrating this year. TT support doesn't admit to system glitches, kept telling me it was a data entry issue. I was an accountant and knew it was not my entry error, but a software issue. This year Turbo Tax had so many 1099-R issues that took a couple of months to fix. Unfortunately I cannot speak for the qualified distribution error you're having. The problem I had was a 1099-R (inherited pension/annuity) "non-qualified" distribution that had no option for it until last week. I had to delete, re-enter and round all of my 10099-R's to the nearest dollar to get the "Needs Review" error out once they fixed the issue. It finally worked last week and I successfully filed my taxes via online TT. I had been trying since the beginning of February with one glitch after another. Seems like they fix one problem and add a new one.
Hopefully TT has fixed the Qualified distribution error you are getting. Curious to see when they fix your issue.
I deleted that 1099r and did a check and my return was fine, however when I put it in again I got the same problem. there is no other choice for me to pick. Its not a 403 B and it is another qualified plan. The distribution code is a 2 which means I was allowed to take it after 55.I checked that because it used to be a 7 but the company that took over the plan says it should be a 2. It still should work because its a qualified pension. Like I said before it has to be a glitch in the TT software . I am supposed to get a call tomorrow from the rep that is helping me and hopefully she found something out.
also I didn't have any problems last year and had the same codes and types of income! i hope they get this fixed
with the help of tax expert, successfully fixed the problem and was able to file . Thank you all for your input😊
How was it fixed? I've had 2 sessions trying to fix this before I got pointed at this thread. This thread without a cogent post from TurboTax.
This issue was fixed. If you are using TurboTax Desktop please make sure you updated the software.
You might have to delete and reenter your Form 1099-R. If you use TurboTax Online please clear your cache and delete your cookies before reentering Form 1099-R.
I am experiencing a similar problem, and am having very large penalties show up in the tax due window. After reading the situation summary, at least I now realize where the problem is stemming from. I will now attempt to again re-enter the data from my 1099R s.
What about those of us with download TT? I don't know what to do.
non-qualified doesn't come up as an option for me on download TT.
What is you code in box 7? What kind of retirement is this?
That was the problem I had online. Turbo tax fixed the online version. TT said they did an update to the download version. Did you go back, delete the 1099R's, then do an update and reenter the 1099R's?
If so, it might be another similar box 7 code issue. I think TT said they fixed the "7D" and "4D" (mine) codes.
premier version from Costco online won't let me check non qualified plan for an annuity I bought with after tax money today
Please make sure you software is updated. You might have to delete and reenter your Form 1099-R.
