I printed and mailed my 1099s and 1096 to the IRS. I created the 1099s and 1096 with Turbo Tax. I sent a 1099-Misc to someone by mistake. I am trying to correct it in Turbo Tax. I followed the instruction to make a new file, etc. I zeroed Box 7-Nonemployee compensation that previously had an amount. No amounts are entered in any of the other boxes on the 1099-Misc. I deleted all of the other 1099s. This is the only correction that I have. Turbo Tax is producing the corrected 1099 but not the 1096. Why didn't Turbo Tax create the 1096 and how do I get it to create the 1096? Thanks!

According to Quick Employer Forms (this is Intuit's online website for preparing W-2s and 1099-MISCs), corrected 1099s must be prepared using the IRS website and instructions. See screenshot.

I did not use QEF to prepare the 1099s/1096. I printed them with Turbo Tax Home & Business and mailed them to the IRS. Per Turbo Tax software instructions, I should be able to correct the 1099, print and mail the forms. Please see the instructions below.
@ssemory I stand corrected. You're saying that the 1096 you originally mailed was generated by the TurboTax software, but the corrected one is not being automatically generated? Will the program allow you to enter the corrected into the 1096?
The 1096 is automatically created. It's not editable. If I change the 1099 amount to .01 the 1096 is created. If the amount is zero, the 1096 is not created.
I'm guessing it's a bug in the Turbo Tax software, so I'm going to use the 1096 for a penny and white out the 1 and make it a zero. Thanks for your help.
Wonky. Sorry for the issue. You're wise to figure out your own workaround. Best of luck!
How is the corrected box entered in Premier version for a new 1099-M replacing one already sent to the IRS?
I have a corrected 1099-M and need to correct the old one. How is the corrected 1099 entered and correcting the old one?

@mhicks Do you mean you received a corrected 1099-MISC?
As long as you haven't yet e-filed or mailed your return, you can just enter the new 1099-MISC (the corrected one, and be sure to mark that this is corrected). I'll link you below to a TurboTax FAQ that explains how to enter your 1099-MISC.
Once you've entered your corrected 1099-MISC, you can use the "Edit" or "Update" button beside the original 1099-MISC and delete it entirely. Make sure that the only one that remains is the corrected one.

Thank you for the post about the Turbotax PC desktop application workaround using $0.01. Oddly, the 1099-MISC corrections needs the $0.01. The 1099-NEC corrections did not need them.
Editing the 1099-MISCs (A, B, C, 1, and 2) and the 1096's output pdf file was pretty easy with Adobe - a bit of a pain, but at least it was a solution! Thanks! I guess that it is a bug for the penny required to generate an entry to create the 1096.
