I had a contractor that passed away this year. How do I handle his 1099 ?
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
If the contractor gave you a W-9 form (which should have been done), then issue the 1099 according to the information provided on that W-9 form.
I do have all that information but he was killed in a motorcycle wreck, not children and wasn't married so do I just send it to his last address...??? His home has been sold and the 1099 will be returned to me...
Thanks....
You can input the address you have on the 1099 and then send it to the forwarding address if you can determine what that address would be (e.g., the address of a personal representative, next of kin, et al).
Otherwise, you can send it to the last known address as there could be a forwarding order already in place.
