1095-A Not Required, Can't Re-Transmit Return

My 2025 return was rejected for not having form 1095-A, but no one on my return had health coverage through the marketplace. I followed the instructions and certified that fact in the medical section, but Turbotax will not re-transmit my 2025 return. What to do?

1095-A Not Required, Can't Re-Transmit Return

I followed the instructions and certified that no 1095-A is required. The software inserted an "ACA Explanation" page covered in watermarks saying "Do Not Mail, E-File Only".

However, the software WILL NOT allow me to resubmit my return. It begins the transmission process then it restarts the TurboTax software without transmitting the return.

Please help.

I am also having trouble with the reject F8962. I followed the guidelines to say I do not need a 1095A, clicked "no" and still wont let me file. I still keep getting the reject code.

If you initially answered "Yes" to the question about having a Form 1095-A, but should have answered "No", you would need to delete the 1095-A that was generated by the "Yes" answer to clear the section.

To navigate back to the 1095-A section, In TurboTax Online:

  1. Go to Deductions & Credits
  2. Click the down arrow next to Medical to open that section
  3. Click Start or Revisit next to  Health Insurance Marketplace (Form 1095-A)
  4. If you see the question, Do you need to report any 1095-As? select No
  5. If you already selected Yes earlier, the question won't appear, but you can click on the trash can icon under Form 1095-A Summary to delete the Form 1095-A you already started by answering "Yes" before.

If, on the other hand, you could have had Marketplace / ACA insurance at any time during 2025 and you didn't get a Form 1095-A, contact healthcare.gov. Your return may be rejected if you were issued a Form 1095-A but didn't include the information on your tax return.

If you have a rejection code F8962-070, see this help article.

Thank you but I tried all that and I am still getting the 8962 rejection code. I do not see a 1095a form started. I answered 'no' and it no longer shows up in the credits and deduction section. But it still will not let me file my tax return.

You might need to troubleshoot your web browser.

  1. Turn off any pop-up blockers.
  2. Try using a different web browser. For example, if you're using Chrome, try using Firefox or Safari instead.
  3. Delete your browser cookies.
