How do I fix e-file reject F8962-070?

by TurboTax13235 Updated 2 months ago

E-file reject F8962-070 happens when your return is missing Form 1095-A Health Insurance Marketplace Statement.

Important: If you'll get a 1095-A, wait until you've received it to file your tax return. Filing without it will result in a rejection from the IRS. You should receive a Form 1095-A by mid-February if you purchased health insurance through the government.

First, find your 1095-A form. If you don’t have it, download it from HealthCare.gov or your state's Marketplace.

Once you have your form, using TurboTax Online/Mobile:

  1. Go to the Do you have Form 1095-A info ready? screen.
  2. Answer the questions and continue through to enter the details from your Form 1095-A.
  3. When you’re done, select File from the left menu and continue through to refile your return.

If you're using TurboTax Live Full Service, read this help article.

Your return may have been rejected if the IRS has information that someone in your household should have a 1095-A.

If you don't have a Form 1095-A and know you won't be receiving one, you can certify this in TurboTax Online/Mobile in order to refile your return:

  1. Go to the Did you receive Form 1095-A for your health insurance plan? screen.
  2. You'll be asked if you received a 1095-A. Select No. By selecting this certification, you will be able to e-file your return and meet the requirements under rejected code F8962-070.
  3. Select File from the left menu and continue through the process to resubmit your return.

If you're not sure if someone in your household purchased insurance through HealthCare.gov or your state's Marketplace, check those websites for an account.
