preparing a return for my kid

I got stuck doing TurboTax online due to window 11 upgrade. I understand I have to create another account to do my son's return. From what I read I can use my Email but with a different password (up to 5 returns with the same email) but when I try I get an error message that that email is already in use! Any suggestions?

Sorry---no--you  misunderstood what using online TurboTax entails.   You will not be getting five federal e-files with online for the price you paid for desktop download.  You get one federal and one state return.   Additional returns cost you the online fee for federal and for state.

When you use online TurboTax software you get one return per fee.  There are separate fees for federal and state, unless you can use the Free Edition for a very simple return.

Each return needs its own email, account and user ID.   If you use the same account and user ID for a second return, the second one overwrites the first return and it is lost forever.

If your child has a simple return that will only require Form 1040 try using the Free Edition for them:
