Turbotax will not accept my drivers license number

Please enter the license number and use any numbers and/or letters but do not enter any special characters such as - or *  or spaces. Please be sure there are no extra spaces at the beginning or the end.

If your driver's license or State issued ID is not being accepted when you enter it exactly as it is shown, in TurboTax Online, you should be able to leave the driver's license/state ID information blank, and still file your tax return. Your driver's license number is actually not required to file your federal taxes, nor is it required to file your State tax return in most states. 

Two states, Illinois and Alabama, do require a driver's license to file a state return.

Doesn't seem like a good practice on the part of turbotax.  On that page, they say that putting that info in can help customers be protected from tax fraud and what not, as well as helping them get their return faster, yet don't allow all their customers to use that tool.  There is no valid reason why they can't allow them.  Just plain lazy if you ask me
