I have 3 passive loss carryovers from 2 & 3 yrs ago. TT premier is fouling up over them . first it stuck on review/smart check showing 6 errors. No one at TT support could fix. Deleted return & i started return again. Got finished and filed. IRS rejected .
error code says processing error . Again no one at support able to help( so far . Getting boosted to senior level today, yet no official TT issue with software admitted as yet)
questions:
1) if TT software bug, can i just delete Form 3800 and associated pages giving up small $738 carry forward passive credit ?
2) how long can i carry forward passive credit ? Do they expire?

Yes, you could delete Form 3800 to be able to Efile, and later Amend to include it. Here's how to How to Delete Forms in TurboTax Online.
As an FYI, if you are using Turbo Tax Online, you will need to switch to the Desktop product because many of the forms that flow to Form 3800 require a manual entry that isn't available in the online product.
You don't manually enter data into form 3800. You would enter information from other forms and information from those forms populate form 3800. For an example, if you need to add Form 3468, you would generate Form 3468 by going to Open Forms in the Forms mode in your return. You would enter information on that form and the information will flow to Form 3800.
Form 3800 gathers information from over a dozen different forms. Turbo Tax wants to make sure you fill out these other forms thus won't allow you to enter data on form 3800 itself.
Here's more detailed info on Form 3800. A passive business credit can be carried forward for 20 years, according to IRS Instructions for Form 3800.
Deletion of form
3800 doesn't work on desk top. The button is there. You click on it , it says deleted. But if you go to run check on return or preview print the Form 3800 is still there. As are 3800 pt 3,5 etc.
3/26 was allegedly the day TT will magically fix this issue so i can file on 27th. I might as well wait till thurs 27th now and re-file.
my confidence factor in an error fix is ZERO in TT at this point( 7 hrs on phone w well meaning but failed explanations). Employees could not explain why program was causing error which leaves me expecting 99.99 % chance return will be rejected again. We’ll see.
pS ive been downloading all TT fixes daily in prep for 3/27.
I have issues with the same form and cannot get past it to file online...even though Intuit took my $26.66 to filr me State return online... About 3 weeks ago I received a reply from Patricia V at TT... She provided specific instruction to diagnose the problem, but it was impossible to reply to her email despite 5 failed attempts...
At this point my strategy is to cross my fingers and await the "magic fix" on March 27... This is EXTREMELY frustrating that I cannot even file my returns... I have been loyal TT users for more than 10 years in a row:(.
