We are having trouble completing Delaware non-PIT tax return (TT says we can file either as resident or non-resident AND if we have NO income from DE sources we should file a NON-PIT form, joint return.
We did the Federal, we did our part year Virginia return (where we move FROM), but Delaware has this screen in which they ask for Delaware Sourced income. NONE of our Fed 1040 income is Delaware sourced. But when i zero out those inputs, TT errors says I need an amount to put them back under the column marked Delaware Sourced Income.
Our state tax liability is being calculated on ALL income we received while living in DE but the subtractions done on the form uses the higher income on 45b and not 45a (which includes subtractions to income for US Treasury interest (not taxable by any state) AND Social Security benefits (also NOT taxable in DE))
I am concerned the tax liability computed on line 45a,b (non-PIT) is wrong.
