out of stse tax question

I received a MA state beneficiary tax form 2K-1

the form lists bank interest of $411 and long term capital gains of $222

Do I have to file MA income tax forms for this? I live in RI

No, because Massachusetts only requires a return as a nonresident, if your Massachusetts gross income (from sources within Massachusetts) is greater than either $8,000 or the prorated personal exemption you're entitled to, whichever is less. See this link to the Massachusetts Department of Revenue. The prorated PE is the amount allowed to a resident multiplied by a ratio, the numerator of which is Massachusetts gross income (derived from sources within Massachusetts) and the denominator of which is Massachusetts gross income derived from all sources as if the taxpayer were a full year Massachusetts resident.
