Out-of-Pocket Medical Expenses

Private individuals are only able to deduct the cost of therapy from their taxes if the total cost of therapy and other medical expenses for the year exceeds 7.5% of their adjusted gross income (AGI).

‍The therapy must also be part of a medical treatment, though the IRS is pretty vague about what that means. Rule of thumb: if the therapy is necessary, and deals with specific issues that negatively impact one’s life, it’s probably deductible.
