The turbotax states to hit the edit button and enter the dates of service. There is only one edit button at the top of the screen and its links do not respond. Where do I enter my dates of service?

Are you wanting to report an Oregon reduction of Federal Pension Income for Federal service that occurred before October 1, 1991?
If so, within the Oregon state income tax return, at the screen Federal Pension Summary, select Edit the distribution.

At the screen Enter Federal Service Information, enter the information.

Within the Federal income tax return, when entering the Federal pension, did you select Office of Personnel Management (CSA 1099-A) or something else?

Within the Federal income tax return, at the screen Where is your distribution from, did you select Federal government retirement benefits?
When you select edit, a new screen should appear to enter the dates. If you are unable to see or use the edit information, you need to contact support.

The illustration is good BUT, I don't believe it's correct. The problem is the "Points". It appears the box of 142 is a default answer. When I enter my beginning date (01/20/1981) and then my points, 3,493 the refund cuts in half. The instructions on the illustration say to enter Start and End date (In BOLD) OR to enter the points. Are you required to enter both the Dates AND Points for just Dates OR points? My ending date is 01/31/2014 and 7,194 points. The refund is higher if i enter just the dates and leave the default points alone.
It depends. If you retired from active duty, enter the start and end dates and leave the points blank. If you were in the reserve or guard, you must provide the "before 1991" points.
ORS 316.680(1) states, as the period for which you earned a pension. Oregon's Publication OR-17 specifically instructs taxpayers to "divide your months of service OR points earned" to find the percentage. It doesn't require both.
Thanks but a clarification question. I was active duty prior to 10/01/1991 and then a combination of active duty and full-time National Guard (AGR) after that date. This allowed for an active duty retirement of 33 years. Would I use just the dates since active both before and after? Thanks again!
Yes, since you were full-time National Guard, your service is considered full-time active duty under Title 32. Since you retired with an Active Duty retirement (33 years of service through Active Duty and Full-Time National Guard/AGR), you should use Dates/Months only.
Thanks Dave! Greatly appreciate your help!
