On the federal form, how was the total income calculated?

The total income is the sum of all of the types of taxable income. You may preview your 1040 to see how the total income was calculated.

• Continue your return in TurboTax Online. (If your return isn't open, you'll need to sign in and click Take me to my return.)
• Click the drop-down arrow next to Tax Tools (lower left of your screen).
• Select Tools.
• Under Other helpful links…, click View Tax Summary.
• At the left side of the screen, click Preview My 1040.
• To locate your total income, scroll down to line 6 if using Form 1040EZ, line 15 if using Form 1040A, or line 22 if using Form 1040. Now slowly scroll up and you can see the taxable items that were included in this total. (Click the screenshot below to enlarge it for reference.)
