NOT ELIGIBLE FOR ELECTRONIC FILING - Form 1116 AMT?

This is regarding the TurboTax Business software filing for a TRUST.

I got this rather strange error, saying:

---

Your federal return is not eligible for electronic filing for the following reason:

Only one category of income is allowed on each copy of Form 1116 AMT for electronic filing. The program does not support reporting more than three foreign countries of U.S. possessions of the same category of income on additional sheets following the format of Form 1116, Parts I and II.

---

In my return, there are 2 copies of Form 1116 and 2 copies of Form 1116 AMT.

Copy 1 of the Form 1116 AMT has a "RIC" at column A and B. Copy 2 of the Form 1116 AMT has a "RIC" at column A.  So there are 3 RICs total.

I don't quite get what the complaint is.  Is there any workaround?  Since they are all "RIC", may be they can all lump (sum) together in one column?  Any suggestion?

Regards,

Joseph

There is not a workaround.  This is an IRS error, you will need to print and mail your return.  The IRS reports this error will be fixed for 2023 tax year.

Since the countries are all RIC, you might try and just use column  A for both the regular and the AMT f1116.
