No Federal Tax withheld, Box 1 and 2 empty of W2
I had no federal income tax withheld this past year since we knew we would be able to claim the adoption tax credit and would be getting a refund.
On my W2 box 1 and 2 are empty. 3-5 are all filled out correctly. Shouldn't box 1 have my gross pay and box 2 be $0? My employer is saying that box 1 has to be empty since I had no federal income tax withheld. This doesn't seem correct to me, I had taxable income, just opted to have nothing withheld. Any insight?
Turbo tax won't let me input this W2 since box 1 is empty.

No that's not right. Box 1 is your wages. It has to be at least the same as box 3&5 or more. It's very common for box 2 withholding to be zero or blank.

My employer is insisting that there is no mistake, says it's what the software calculated and she has no control over it. Am I missing something here?
