For years I have been working for years with my stepfather who is an independent contractor. He has never given me 1099 or W2s, checks, pay stubs, receipts, nothing since he pays me in cash under the table. He also doesn't pay me on time or sometimes never at all, especially when I'm living at home since he thinks I owe him for every dime he lost when he sold my car for a lower price than what I bought it after refusing to pay me on time saying I didn't pay him on time for the work done on the car.... makes no sense and is absolutely absurd.
Anyways, I was told by numerous people to file for unemployment since I no longer work for my dad. Throughout 2020, I received unemployment. Unfortunately, now they are asking for proof of the last 3 years (2017-2019) before I applied for unemployment or else I have to pay everything I have with interest plus a large amount of money on top of the money I earned from unemployment each time I have to pay.
Due to COVID and my stepdad no longer wants me living at the house, I became homeless so I have no job and have not found any since the pandemic started. I obviously cannot pay back the money I owe monthly to the state of California that needs to be done by next month.
I really need to fill out the correct forms to show proof that I did have a job, and that I did get paid for my work.
I just do not know what forms I need or what I need to do. My parents nor college ever told me I needed to do this due to the fact I got paid under the table and never taught me anything about filing taxes. I am now almost 40 and I am just realizing how much deep sh*t I am in.
Please help me and if anyone wants to even provide the steps in what to do, that would be incredible.
Thank you.

what you really need is a tax pro or tax lawyer. they can advise you about the legalities of providing unfiled returns as if they were filed.
