Need to extend auto debit

Dear Sir:

I received an email from your office for an Auto Debit on April 10, 2020. My income taxes is still been processed. I have not  received any refund from the Federal or State Taxes.

Also, due to the virus pandemic I am not working.

I need to extend the auto debit to a later date.

Thank You.

If you’ve already filed your federal taxes with TurboTax

You can’t change your payment date in TurboTax after your return has been accepted but you can cancel it and make other payment arrangements with the IRS.

Federal tax direct debit payments can be canceled up to 2 business days prior to the debit date. To cancel, call the U.S. Treasury Financial Agent at 888-353-4537.

Then, to schedule a new payment, go to the IRS Direct Pay site.

Please be aware that due to IRS office closures and limited staffing, they have temporarily suspended phone services.

I also suggest you try creating an IRS online account by using the link below:

Need to extend auto debit

Yes I agreed to pay out of my refund but I didn't receive my refund due to the fact I owed the IRS. I don't have the funds at the moment so I need to make payment arrangements until I get this paid.

My tax refund never came and I’ve been getting emails that my fees will be debited.  I need to extend the payment date.  How do I do that?

Yes, you got it. I have not received my income tax return and this is the first notice I am receiving. I know you are not the IRS and my hours at work have been drastically cut. I'm just asking for a little more time please.

If you are referring to your automatic payment of taxes from your refund, here is some information:

Cancellations, Errors and Questions:

  • In the event Treasury causes an incorrect amount of funds to be withdrawn from a bank account, Treasury will return any improperly transferred funds.
  • Once your return is accepted, information pertaining to your payment, such as account information, payment date, or amount, cannot be changed. If changes are needed, the only option is to cancel the payment and choose another payment method.
  • Call IRS e-file Payment Services 24/7 at 1-888-353-4537 to inquire about or cancel your payment, but please wait 7 to 10 days after your return was accepted before calling.
  • Cancellation requests must be received no later than 11:59 p.m. ET two business days prior to the scheduled payment date.
  • If a payment is returned by your financial institution (e.g., due to insufficient funds, incorrect account information, closed account, etc.) the IRS will mail a Letter 4870 to the address we have on file for you, explaining why the payment could not be processed, and providing alternate payment options.
  • In the event your financial institution is unable to process your payment request, you will be responsible for making other payment arrangements, and for any penalties and interest incurred.
  • Contact your financial institution immediately if there is an error in the amount withdrawn.
