My wife was working part time then converted to contingent for the same employer. is she getting W2 for the part time and 1099 for the contingent ?

She should ask the employer. We have no way to know what the employer will do. They have until January 31 to issue W-2's.

Maybe. A W2 would cover her work as an employee. A 1099 would show her income as a self-employed contractor.
