My wife’s had student loan forgiveness in 2017 due to disability. I had the only income for 2017 will this affect how we claim or add any taxable income for 2017?

She will get a 1099-C for the tax year, as will the IRS. The amount of the discharged debt will be considered income for Federal tax purposes and possibly for State tax purposes.
