Only Where's My Refund? can tell you if the IRS has sent your refund.
No. In fact, that does not even mean you've e-filed your return. All it means is that you have "paid" to e-file your return. Your return is not e-filed until *YOU* take physical action to click the big orange TRANSMIT MY RETURNS NOW button.
Once you do that and get no errors, that means you've sent your return to the IRS electroncially. It *DOES* *NOT* mean the IRS has received it.
You should get an e-mail (if you entered your correct e-mail address in the program) telling you the return was sent. Then later (within 72 hours) you should get another e-mail telling you if the IRS accepted or rejected your e-filed return. If accepted, you're done. If rejected, then *DO* *NOT* amend your return. Follow the instructions in the e-mail to fix the problem and then click that big orange TRANSMIT MY RETURNS NOW button again.
You are not finished until you have the e-mail informing you the IRS has accepted your return.
If you are also required to e-file a state return, then you will receive a physically separate e-mail for the state return.
