If you did get a 1099 form you will have to pay the Social Security and Medicare taxes.
I got 2 W2's. 1 for my old employer and 1 for new employer. I just noticed it yesterday while I was trying to file my tax. Planning to reach out tomorrow but wanted to check if it is normal. I had switched employers last year. So from Jan to July 2024 I have Social security tax deducted from my wages with old employer. My new employers W2 has it blank in Social security wages and taxes. I check the paystubs for my new employer as well but they have not deducted any social security tax, not sure why.
same with Medicare. Old employer had it deducted but my new employer did not. do I need to pay it now? If yes, how do I pay it?
I can not think of a reason that your new employer would not pay and withhold the Social Security and Medicare.
