How do I fix this? Why was it checked?

Have you e-filed it yet? A spouse can never be claimed as a dependent. If you have not e-filed go back to My Info, click edit by his name and go through the screens again to change an incorrect answer.

And....did you choose married filing jointly as your filing status? When it asked you if you were married in 2019, you should have said yes, and then it asks if you want to file together with your spouse. Say yes again.
