No.  The taxes owed are due by April 18, 2023 and cannot be deferred.  If you do not want to have the tax payment debited from your account then you have to cancel the payment.

Go to this IRS website for information - https://www.irs.gov/payments/pay-taxes-by-electronic-funds-withdrawal

  • Once your return is accepted, information pertaining to your payment, such as account information, payment date, or amount, cannot be changed. If changes are needed, the only option is to cancel the payment and choose another payment method.
  • Call IRS e-file Payment Services 24/7 at 888-353-4537 to inquire about or cancel your payment, but please wait 7 to 10 days after your return was accepted before calling.
  • Cancellation requests must be received no later than 11:59 p.m. ET two business days prior to the scheduled payment date.

You cannot defer the payment.  The only way to change it now would be, to cancel your direct debit payment that is setup and then either go on the IRS (State) website to make a payment.

If you do not pay your taxes owed in full by April 18th, you will be issued a penalty and interest until the taxes are paid in full.

If you still want to cancel your direct debitCall IRS e-file Payment Services 24/7 at 888-353-4537 to inquire about or cancel your payment, but please wait 7 to 10 days after your return was accepted before calling.
