Should the 4th quarter State Estimated tax payment paid in December 2017, and so noted on Tax payment form, be included in 2017 State income tax deduction on Schedule A?  When you go to Source of data on State and Local Tax deduction worksheet it is a different number than the one that shows on line 2 (missing 4th quarter payment).

Should the 4th quarter State Estimated tax payment paid in December 2017, and so noted on Tax payment form, be included in 2017 State income tax deduction on Schedule A?

Yes.  When you entered the estimated into Turbo Tax be sure to enter the right date you sent each payment.  Don’t use the prefilled dates.  Enter the actual date you made it.  Go back and check.

Yes I did enter the date as 12/19/2017 (including several reentries of the date) but it did not include payment in Turbo Tax calculated state income tax deduction

Should the 4th quarter State Estimated tax payment paid in December 2017, and so noted on Tax payment form, be included in 2017 State income tax deduction on Schedule A?

Line 2 of the " State and Local Tax Deduction worksheet" ?  that is not the source for line 5 on the Schedule A.
_______________________________________________

the source of line 5 of the Schedule A is line "h" of the "Tax & Int Wks"   (Tax and Interest Deduction Worksheet)...as long as you are not using sales taxes as your deduction.

Please...switch to Forms Mode
...open the Federal "Tax Payments" worksheet from the left-side window.
....look at that 4th quarter state payment again on the worksheet itself    12/19/2018 ? or 12/19/2017?

Change hat 4th Quarter state tax payment back and forth between a 2017 or 2018 date and line "h" changes appropriately on the "Tax & Int Wks" . (along with line 5 of the schedule A)

My error, was changing date for "local" income taxes not "state" income taxes.  Changed 4th Qtr. "State" income tax to 12/19/2017 and it is now picking it up.  thanks
