If on Windows Computer....
1) Did you check for Windows updates, and reboot (AND reboot even if none appear)? Partially-installed Windows OS updates are known to do that.
2) did you try the Rt-Click on TTX icon and select "Run as Administrator"?

If you go to "Online" you can't transfer what you've already done, so you'd have to start over....and not sure they'll give you a credit for already paying to Desktop....that would be up to Customer Support.
Yes. I did have a windows update pending, so i took care of that, restarted, and then reinstalled TT, but it fails to launce, even in admin mode, leaving me with a message....
TurboTax - Error
Looks like we've run into an error.

You could try the "Manual Update" for TTX and see if that Helps. Sometimes it installs some subtle change that is missed in the regular updates:
