No, only one parent can claim a child as a dependent. In this case, if your daughter wants to claim her daughter as a dependent, the father will have to amend his return and remove her; then mail his amended return. Only then will your daughter be able to claim her as dependent.

This question was misunderstood I think. My daughter was claimed as a dependent by her father but she has her own child( 1 year old son) who is her depedent. Can she still file taxes and claim her son even though her father claimed her not her son.

No, if she was claimed as a dependent she will not able to claim her children either. Also, she has to indicate that someone claimed her as dependent.
