My agi for 2017 was under $156,900, so cash charitable contributions were not limited but they exceeded my AGI by about $80,000. Can I carry that forward for 2018?

In 2017 I understood that contributions were not limited on Schedule A if your income was under $156,900, which mine was.  So I was able to put the full contribution on my 1040.  But this contribution exceeded my AGI by around $80,000.  I have carried contributions forward in the past when they were limited by the AGI threshold but have never had the situation where my contributions brought my AGI below zero, so I am wondering if I can carry that $80,000 forward into 2018.

In 2017 cash and personal property contributions were limited to 50% of your AGI. The excess can be carried forward to 2018. It sounds very much like your prior year return(s) took too much charitable deductions.
and Worksheet 2 therein.

2018 is different in that cash contributions are limited to 60% of AGI. https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/p526.pdf
