Must upgrade my TTversion and can't use free version because I have "schedule 3 non-refundable tax credits" but I do not have these credits?

When you enter you information, TurboTax will prompt you to upgrade to a version that supports the forms you need so we can maximize your tax deductions and ensure you file an accurate return.

The tax credits on Schedule 3 include:

  • Foreign tax credit
  • Credit for child and dependent care expenses
  • Education credits
  • Retirement savings contributions credit
  • Residential energy credit.

To check which credit you are claiming:

  1. Log in to your account.
  2. Select Tax Tools then Tools from the left menu.
  3. Select View Tax Summary.
  4. Select preview my 1040 from the left menu and scroll down to check Schedule 3.

he clearly said that none of those credits applied to him. The same is happening to me and a bunch of other users in these forums and no one has given a solution, yet  it keep sasking us for this schedule 3 just to make us upgrade to a paid version when clearly we don't have this credits.

If a schedule 3 is there the  there must be a credit on it.  What is on the form?

The most common reason is the Savers Credit for a retirement plan of you have a W-2 box 12 entry.
