Hi

We filled the 2018 tax return in Nov 2020 by paper and have not got the refund as of yet and we are moving to a new apartment from First August 2021.

What to do, please.

If you requested direct deposit, don’t close that bank account, even if you plan to close it eventually. You should also file a change of address form with the post office and a separate change of address form with the IRS after you move, form 8822.

Can I file the address change with the IRS now that I will be at my new from August 1, 2021.

You can send in a change of address to the IRS but also make sure you are having your mail forwarded by the post office.

the IRS is far behind in processing paper returns. I suggest you check the IRS website to see if there's a transcript.https://www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript

if it exists, then you know the IRS got it.  however, there's no way to check on the refund status except to call

Have your return handy when you call for verification purposes. The IRS refund information number is 800-829-1954.

if there is no transcript, then either the IRS hasn't gotten to it yet. highly possible, or it got lost in the mail. no way to tell which. did you use a method where you got proof of delivery or tracking info?

Yes

I have the tracking number and it was delivered to IRS in November 2020.

Thanks
