Hi. I currently work as a contractor with no end date and moved for this role six months ago. When I was hired I did not have an address in the new state yet so I put the only address I had, it should be changed now with my job. I also can no longer use that previous address in the old state as a place of residence, since my move was permanent. Should I still file for the new state if the state taxes being pulled were from two different states? Thanks

    Congratulations on your new position and move.

    As your move was permanent, you will need to file two part year state returns (providing the state you moved from had a personal income tax.)  You would report and pay tax on the income earned while in each state.
