You can pay the 4th quarter 2024 estimated tax payments today on the IRS payment website. Today is the last day for payment of 2024 estimated taxes - https://www.irs.gov/payments
So go ahead and pay the balance, which in this case would include the 1st missed payment? Is there a way to avoid penalties at this point? Should I include estimated penalties? Is there a safe harbor rule that applies?
If your return shows a penalty on line 38, You might be able to eliminate it or at least reduce it. You can go to Federal Taxes tab or Personal tab, under Other Tax Situations and select Start by the Underpayment Penalties. You will answer a series of questions that may reduce or eliminate the penalty. Or you can elect to have the IRS figure the penalty for you. It's form 2210.
