I am not seeing that Middle Class Refund Option on the second screen.
@Kingrao Delete it and re enter it.
Go to Federal > Wages & Income, you might need to continue though the general screens.
When you come to the Wages - Your Income screen click on Add Income or
scroll down to Other Common Income, then 1099Misc.
Put the amount in box 3 and follow the prompts.
The next screen says…..
Do any of the uncommon situations apply? In my Desktop program the 3rd item listed is California Middle Class Tax Refund.
When you click on that then at the bottom it will say....The California Middle Class Tax Refund (MCTR) will not be taxable on your California or federal returns. It will show up as Other Income on Schedule 1 line 8z and also as a separate negative amount to zero it out.
You don't have to do anything for the California return. It will be automatic.
My tax keeps getting rejected and I already tried it 3 times they keep saying it could be a software problem. Did anyone got there’s approved now?
We did not get 1099-MISC but feel need to enter the MCTR we got. We note Schedule 1 line 8 worksheet that there is a place for CA payment, but it will not take entry? We called TT and they said there would be update today 2/1/23, but there was not update. How can we enter MCTR? Thank you.
This solved the issue. Thank you!
The only thing I'll add is, in the box description you have to enter "MCTR" or something (should be a clickable question mark that gives the accurate term). Maybe I overlooked, but I didn't see an option "middle class tax refund" in the list of options the first time. However, I saw it the second time when I entered "MCTR" as the description.
