Massachusetts Married filling Jointly

Hi can we file MFJ at MA state level as mass.gov website states that you were married and were residents of Massachusetts for the same period of time during the year.

what does the same period of time during the years means. one spouse lived here for entire year and other spouse lived here for 9 months(April-Dec). Can we file MFJ at State level, Please
