Married Filing Separately with HDHP HSA

My employer provides HDHP and a fully funded HSA to the IRS maximum. My spouse is covered by my healthcare plan, making it a family plan with HSA contributions from my employer to $8300 for 2024. My spouse is not a dependent and I do not claim them as a dependent.

When I preparing my taxes to file, I’m getting an error for review that wants to change my plan to ‘self’ and suggesting withdrawal of excess contributions, but healthcare plan is family plan not self and HSA is for a family not individual. What do I do wrong? How do I make it accurate?

Married Filing Separately with HDHP HSA

Please tell me the exact question in the Review that you are referring to?

I don't know of any reason why filing MFS would cause TurboTax to force you to report Self-only HDHP coverage. Let's see the exact message, please.
