Married filing joint. filling out w4 do we both do worksheet part? Or does one just put married filing joint and other claims additional withholding from worksheet?

Incomes are similar.  Looking like we may owe taxes this year for first time and not sure why?  Reviewed w4 s and the forms have changed drastically.  Unsure if we both do worksheet part.  Or if just one of us fills out that part.  Seems like tons would be withheld if we both did the worksheet and filled out the additional withholding line.  TIA for any feedback.

Since you have similar incomes both of you should check the step 2(c) box on your respective forms W4.  Next only the W4 for the highest paying job need complete steps 3-4b.  Also, you can click here for a calculator to figure if you want an amount in step 4(c) for a higher refund with lower paychecks.
